How to make better use of your OFP section
It is great fun doing team tactics in OFP I like it more
than doing a Rambo and killing them all my self. I tend to spend a lot of
time setting up an attack. This is a quick and dirty explanation of how to
use the camera mode in CE. We will be adding to this in the future.

Accessing camera view
In CE (0 0) and selecting a unit ( 1) gives access to a
particular section or team then if you use ( 7) you slip into that teams
camera view and you have direct control of all the team except the
commander.
CE tip
It is better to make attitude settings for troops in the CE main system behavior
or via waypoints if you want to affect the commander.

Setting team attitude
Do all (`) key top left of qwerty section in the numbers
(3 2)
To make your soldiers Hold Fire.
Then (`) (7 1) stealth
Then (`) (7 6) Hit the Dirt
CE tip In CE before you
enter camera mode this can all be set in the planning stage by altering
behavior or better still by setting it in waypoint settings blue no fire
and Stealth (CE stealth includes hit the dirt)
You should tend to switch your section's formation around a bit ( 8 ) as to the nature of
the ground Down a hedge row in column or staggered column say. Attack in a
line or send teams to flank left and or right.
I also use Teams (F2,F3,F4) ( 9 9 1) [Team Red] (F5,F6,F7,F8) 9 9 2 [Team
green] etc.

Movement to contact
If you have Spec Ops with your section put them on point
and a sniper and or MG backing them up.
If they encounter the enemy its (`) (1 6 ) Stop and we go into a freeze then
try to get units not in contact to (3 8) scan horizon or watch a particular
direction.

Scouting
One of the most important tasks you do as
commander is scouting. Set up your personal protection squad and adjust it
to the circumstances and available units if at all possible
Choose
your personal weapons with care.
Remember carrying a rocket makes you more conspicuous.
Silenced weapons make you less likely to be spotted. Indirect fire weapon
can be fired from out of sight so grenade launchers and mortars over a
ridge give you an advantage; ditto hand grenades.
Squad
For covert scouting where contact was instigated lightly
without the enemy knowing two Spec Ops and a couple of snipers work
well.
Where contact comes with a bit of a
bump a sniper a grenadier (preferably heavy grenadier) a light rocket
soldier and even an MG can be of use.
Avoid
full contact
Scouting is not the place to start a battle your support
is usually way behind you. If your scout team make full contact seek to
break from it as soon as possible do not initiate a fight target close
enemies and get ready on the hot keys.
Certainly
at company commander and above it is not your task to get involved in
firefights.
Covering fire
Try to have a cover team at long
range, that can initiate contact to protect you scout team giving them a
chance to withdraw or proceed without contact.

Attack Plan
Having done all that I make a plan looking at the map
for best ingress and for if things go sour egress route and rally
point.
CE tip Egress routes and
rally points can all be preplanned in CE. So if you have to bug out its
just a simple hot key combination to get your troops to bug out if it is a
trap.
Then I use the map and the tactical display (Del) on the number pad to
infiltrate my troops through the trees, bushes and hedge lines to within
100 metres of the enemy The undulating ground since Resistance makes
this more possible.
Next set all your section with designated targets with the right mouse or
using 2 target. Sometimes if the target is a M2 you might double up on a
target.
Infantry Target precedence
- Officers
- Special Ops
- Snipers
- Machine
- Grenadiers
- Then Soldiers and Rocket Launchers
Anti armor precedence
Try not to get into fights with armor use mines and
satchels before you ever get involved in Infantry rockets against armor is
a basic rule. Try to draw them into an ambush with pre-placed charges and
mines then finish off with rockets.
Then take out the most direct threat. Try to put two
anti armor rockets on every tank and carry one yourself as back up if its
that close. IFV s get one Law or RPG. Also set up the mgs to guard the AT
soldiers on their flank. Try to place Anti armor in a places shielded from
infantry if at all possible.
Go! Go! Go!
When all sections are calling ready to fire Get Yourself
to a position where You can target the most dangerous enemy troops or
armor. Only involve your self if you have to. Remember you are in command.
CE
tip In CE timed attack strategies are possible set a waypoint with
wait until then lots of squads can coordinate there attacks H Hour now
takes on its proper meaning in CE
In camera mode or with your own squad hit (`) (3 1) FIRE Remember CE
commands take precedence over OFP commands, as they come from higher up The Chain Of Command. So if a section has CE
waypoint command that tells them to hold fire and you tell them to open
fire they will do but their own section commander will tell the to cease
fire. Make sure you issue orders through the correct channel.
Ideally a fire fight lasts no more than 10 seconds.
Hope this has been of help.
